Continuing education

GHLA is a Texas DPS Private Security–approved training school (provider #Y00221). The CE hours you earn here count toward your Texas locksmith license renewal.

What Texas requires

Texas locksmiths complete 16 continuing-education hours per two-year cycle: in year one, 7 hours of locksmith subject matter plus 1 hour of ethics; in year two, 8 hours of subject matter. Our courses track your hours by category so you always know what’s left.

Approved course categories

  • Locksmith continuing education
  • Electronic access continuing education
  • Ethics

How it works

  • Enroll and work through video and reading lessons at your own pace.
  • Pass a short quiz to confirm you’ve completed the material.
  • Receive an official certificate showing our provider number and your hours.
  • See your full CE transcript and renewal countdown in your member portal.

Why earn CE through GHLA

Instead of paying an outside vendor, you can complete these exact hours through your own association’s approved school — keeping the value in the GHLA community. Create a member account to get started, or find a verified locksmith near you.

Course availability and DPS approval details are confirmed before each renewal cycle. Provider #Y00221.
